The Energy Bill Relief Scheme

We would like to take this opportunity to reassure our prospective and existing customers and clarify the following on the Energy Bill Relief Scheme (EBRS):

  • The Energy Bill Relief Scheme (EBRS) applies to fixed contracts agreed on or after 1st December 2021 as well as to deemed, variable and flexible tariffs and contracts. It will apply to energy usage from 1st October 2022 to 31st March 2023, running for an initial six-month period for all non domestic energy users..
  • All energy suppliers will apply the same discount. This discount will automatically appear on your statements. Customers do not need to apply for the scheme or contact us.
  • The BEIS department recommends all customers continue to enter into fixed price agreements as normal to shield businesses from future wholesale price increases. This way we can ensure all our customers are protected from the volatility in the current wholesale market.
  • For customers who qualify for the Energy Bill Relief Scheme we kindly ask all qualifying customers to provide us with monthly gas and / or electricity meter reads until end of the scheme. This should be done ideally on the first day of the month or no later than the 10th.This will be a great help to get your bills as accurate as possible and ensure we apply the right discount throughout the scheme period.

Why a Business Should Use an Energy Consultancy

There are some very good reasons why a business should use an energy consultancy but the main one is also the most important – and that’s to save money.

For all businesses, it is possible to switch tariffs and energy suppliers, much like we can do with domestic energy suppliers.

However, unlike the tariffs for supplying household energy, the tariffs for a business are usually tailor-made and can vary between suppliers and businesses as well.

This means a business will need to haggle to find the best energy deal and many business owners may think that the time and effort it will take to source a new and better tariff is simply not worth the effort.

Switching suppliers for their energy services

However, this may be an expensive mistake to make since most businesses can save thousands of pounds on their energy bills by simply switching suppliers for their energy services.

The amount that can be saved by the business will vary on their size and their energy needs since the quote to replace an energy supply will be bespoke.

It should also encourage the owners of small businesses, particularly, to know that according to the Competition and Markets Authority around 40% of firms had not switched their energy supplier in the last five years.

Also, 39% of businesses admitted they have never switched their energy supplier so this may mean that many are overpaying for their energy needs.

Process of finding a new energy supplier

While it may be simple to remain with a current supplier on a rolling contract basis, the process of finding a new energy supplier and a better tariff is straightforward – this is particularly true should the business use experts who have access to the latest deals and tariffs such as the team at D-Energi.

It should also be appreciated that things are changing within the energy supply field and firms are being switched to half hourly meters so a supplier can better understand the firm’s energy needs including when their main demand is.

In addition, suppliers will need to tell their customers if there’s a better deal on offer from a rival energy supplier.

Businesses looking to find the best energy tariffs

For those businesses looking to find the best energy tariffs, it is a straightforward process to contact energy supplies and give them a few relevant details to find a range of quotes to supply the business with energy.

Even when an energy supplier has provided the business with a quote it would not hurt to haggle to see if a better price can be offered.

However, the best way is to use an energy consultancy to find cheaper business energy tariffs because they will understand how the market works and find the best supplier for a business with the lowest prices.
