The Energy Bill Relief Scheme

We would like to take this opportunity to reassure our prospective and existing customers and clarify the following on the Energy Bill Relief Scheme (EBRS):

  • The Energy Bill Relief Scheme (EBRS) applies to fixed contracts agreed on or after 1st December 2021 as well as to deemed, variable and flexible tariffs and contracts. It will apply to energy usage from 1st October 2022 to 31st March 2023, running for an initial six-month period for all non domestic energy users..
  • All energy suppliers will apply the same discount. This discount will automatically appear on your statements. Customers do not need to apply for the scheme or contact us.
  • The BEIS department recommends all customers continue to enter into fixed price agreements as normal to shield businesses from future wholesale price increases. This way we can ensure all our customers are protected from the volatility in the current wholesale market.
  • For customers who qualify for the Energy Bill Relief Scheme we kindly ask all qualifying customers to provide us with monthly gas and / or electricity meter reads until end of the scheme. This should be done ideally on the first day of the month or no later than the 10th.This will be a great help to get your bills as accurate as possible and ensure we apply the right discount throughout the scheme period.

Reading your meters

  • Tips For Reading Your Electricity Meter

There are a wide variety of electricity meters and knowing which type you have makes reading it a lot easier.

    Electricity Digital Meter

This will have a digital display, showing five number in black or white with one or more numbers highlighted in red. The get a reading from this meter, write the fiver numbers, ignoring any of the red ones.

    This reading is 93267

    NEW DIGITAL READING 2 (1)

If you have a two-rate digital meter, you might get a lower price and off-peak electricity. For this reason your meter will display two rows – the top row is night, showing how many off-peak units you’ve used, whereas the bottom row is day and shows the amount of peak electricity you’ve used. To read the meter you must make a note of both sets.

  • Electricity Electronic Meter

Often, some two-rate meters only have one digital display and if you have this type of meter your readings will either flash the different rate readings or have a button to go through the readings for the different rates. This will display whether the reading is Rate 1 or Rate 2 and it is important to make a note of this along with the reading.

  • Electricity Dial Meter

A dial meter will have five or more dials that calculate your electricity reading. When getting your reading, you only need and the first five numbers from the left and it is important that when writing these down you mark down the number that the counter has just passed. If the pointer is exactly on a number, write it down and underline it

    • Note the lower number if the pointer is between two numbers
