The Energy Bill Relief Scheme

We would like to take this opportunity to reassure our prospective and existing customers and clarify the following on the Energy Bill Relief Scheme (EBRS):

  • The Energy Bill Relief Scheme (EBRS) applies to fixed contracts agreed on or after 1st December 2021 as well as to deemed, variable and flexible tariffs and contracts. It will apply to energy usage from 1st October 2022 to 31st March 2023, running for an initial six-month period for all non domestic energy users..
  • All energy suppliers will apply the same discount. This discount will automatically appear on your statements. Customers do not need to apply for the scheme or contact us.
  • The BEIS department recommends all customers continue to enter into fixed price agreements as normal to shield businesses from future wholesale price increases. This way we can ensure all our customers are protected from the volatility in the current wholesale market.
  • For customers who qualify for the Energy Bill Relief Scheme we kindly ask all qualifying customers to provide us with monthly gas and / or electricity meter reads until end of the scheme. This should be done ideally on the first day of the month or no later than the 10th.This will be a great help to get your bills as accurate as possible and ensure we apply the right discount throughout the scheme period.

Who is the Cheapest Business Energy Supplier?

by D-ENERGi

The cost of business energy can easily be damaging to your business if it isn’t kept under control, which is why we have created this guide to finding cheap business energy.

Most business energy suppliers will not publish a list of their tariffs as they don’t want their competitors to know too much about them, but they usually publish their deemed and out-of-contract rates.

Deemed vs Out-of-Contract Rates explained

What’s the difference between deemed and out-of-contract rates and how can they help you get a cheap business electricity deal?

Deemed rates are the name given to the rates you are charged when you have no active contract to supply your business with energy – this usually happens when you move to new business premises. The current energy supplier will assume you want to continue with an uninterrupted supply of energy and so continue to supply the property with energy, but at a much higher price than normal.

You are, therefore “deemed” to have agreed to be supplied by the previous building occupant’s energy supplier until you sign a new contract with them or switch to a new energy supplier.

Out-of-contract rates are very similar to deemed rates but they come into play when your existing contract with a supplier ends and you haven’t put a new one in place, or you are consistently behind with paying your energy bills.

How to get cheaper business energy

Comparing prices and switching your business energy supplier is probably the best way to get cheaper business energy – whether that be business electricity or business gas.

However, research has shown that only 21% of micro and small businesses switched their business suppliers last year. Meaning 79% of micro and small businesses are probably paying too much for their business energy.

This seems silly, especially when it has never been easier to compare business energy suppliers online. You can do that easily through the experts at D-ENERGi.

The important thing to remember is that you should never sign a new contract before you have compared suppliers and tariffs. Just by contacting D-ENERGi and asking us to get you a few quotes, you could reduce your business energy bills by up to 60%.

There is no one business energy supplier who comes out as cheapest for all businesses. The rate you pay is based on various things such as

  • Business type
  • Location
  • Profile class
  • Usage

This is why it is so important to compare quotes to make sure you are getting the best deal. Contact the team at D-ENERGi today to ensure you find cheap business gas and cheap business electricity quotes.
