The Energy Bill Relief Scheme

D-ENERGi would like to commend the Government Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy (BEIS) and all civil servants involved working around the clock to implement the Energy Bill Relief Scheme. We appreciate BEIS efforts in working with all non-domestic suppliers over the last few weeks. We would like to take this opportunity to reassure our prospective and existing customers and clarify the following:

  • The scheme is only open to customers which have signed agreements with their suppliers from the 1st April 2022 onwards. The Energy Bill Relief Scheme comes into effect from the 1st October and a discount will be applied until 31st March 2023.
  • All energy suppliers will apply the same discount. This discount will automatically appear on your statements.
  • The BEIS department recommends all customers continue to enter into fixed price agreements as normal to shield businesses from future wholesale price increases. This way we can ensure all our customers are protected from the volatility in the current wholesale market.
  • As portrayed in some media outlets there is no price cap for businesses. The price cap is on the wholesale element price only. Please do not expect the unit rates of 21.1 p/kwh for electricity and 7.5 p/kwh for gas to appear on your bills. These rates do not include the many other non-commodity costs which make up your bill for both gas and electricity.
  • For customers who qualify for the Energy Bill Relief Scheme we kindly ask all qualifying customers to provide us with monthly gas and / or electricity meter reads until end of the scheme. This should be done ideally on the first day of the month or no later than the 10th.This will be a great help to get your bills as accurate as possible and ensure we apply the right discount throughout the scheme period.

How to Get A Cheaper Business Electricity Supplier

The process to get a cheaper business electricity supplier is not only straightforward but it’s also a simple one as well.

The government is encouraging more firms to switch electricity suppliers on a regular basis which will help lower prices and also stimulate competition in the marketplace as suppliers compete to offer the very best prices.

Unfortunately, a government survey has revealed that 40% of firms and organisations in the UK haven’t bothered to switch their electricity supplier so they are likely to be paying more than they should be doing for their electricity needs.

Indeed, this comparison exercise between business electricity suppliers should be carried out every year to ensure your firm is not overpaying on its energy bills.

And considering it can only take a few minutes to carry out, the potential returns make this a financially attractive undertaking.

Find cheaper business electricity rates

The process to find cheaper business electricity rates could see a firm contacting providers directly or using one of the online comparison sites.

The first course of action may be time-consuming and there may be better deals out there, particularly if your search is restricted to the ‘big six’ energy providers because they may offer similar deals.

The second course of action also has issues as the comparison site may not be searching the entire marketplace so there may be better providers available with lower tariffs and you’ll still need to speak with the provider recommended by the site.

That is because all electricity providers need to offer a bespoke deal to ensure it meets the needs of the business or organisation.

Finding cheaper and better business electricity prices

It’s this element of finding cheaper and better business electricity prices that makes comparing quotes on a like-for-like basis difficult.

Despite this, there is a potential for even a small firm to save hundreds of pounds every year with larger firms potentially saving several thousands of pounds to make this an exercise worth undertaking.

And let’s not forget that most business owners simply don’t have a lot of time to spare when it comes to comparing business energy quotes because they can spend the time doing something more effective within the business.

However, with just one phone call to the team of experts at D-Energi, it is possible to find out how you can get a cheaper business electricity supplier and save money on your overheads.
