The Energy Bill Relief Scheme

We would like to take this opportunity to reassure our prospective and existing customers and clarify the following on the Energy Bill Relief Scheme (EBRS):

  • The Energy Bill Relief Scheme (EBRS) applies to fixed contracts agreed on or after 1st December 2021 as well as to deemed, variable and flexible tariffs and contracts. It will apply to energy usage from 1st October 2022 to 31st March 2023, running for an initial six-month period for all non domestic energy users..
  • All energy suppliers will apply the same discount. This discount will automatically appear on your statements. Customers do not need to apply for the scheme or contact us.
  • The BEIS department recommends all customers continue to enter into fixed price agreements as normal to shield businesses from future wholesale price increases. This way we can ensure all our customers are protected from the volatility in the current wholesale market.
  • For customers who qualify for the Energy Bill Relief Scheme we kindly ask all qualifying customers to provide us with monthly gas and / or electricity meter reads until end of the scheme. This should be done ideally on the first day of the month or no later than the 10th.This will be a great help to get your bills as accurate as possible and ensure we apply the right discount throughout the scheme period.

Why Using an Energy Consultancy Could Save Money

There are many reasons why a firm or organisation should use an energy consultancy but the main one is to save money.

The next most important reason is to boost their environmental credentials by reducing the amount of energy they consume.

Either way, it’s a win-win situation for most firms and organisations since they will reduce their energy bills by adopting new practices and disciplines and also the consultant will help highlight switching energy suppliers for cheaper rates as well.

As with energy suppliers, there appears to be a confusing number of energy consultancies available and all of them are offering similar services.

However, it is possible to speak with experts who understand how the market works and can also offer tips and advice on how to reduce the amount of energy being consumed to deliver lower bills.

It should also be appreciated that energy consultancy will be able to offer more help and information about other sources of energy supply for the firm.

For example, this may include solar and wind power as well as biomass boilers and LPG gas supply.

It’s important also that the energy consultants can offer help and advice for businesses of all shapes and sizes and also offer help on water procurement since the water market has, in England and Scotland, been deregulated so cheaper bills should be available.

Energy services consultant

As part of the process of lowering bills, the energy services consultant should also be able to find much cheaper energy suppliers in the business market so the firm will make substantial savings on their energy overheads.

This is a simple way to boost profitability.

However, the savings can also be underpinned by reducing energy use for long-term gains that the firm will enjoy.

There’s no doubt that some firms will need to show potential clients and suppliers how effective their environmental credentials are and an energy consultancy is a good way to ensure the firm is doing what it says it is.

However, it is not just about sourcing cheaper energy supplies and helping firms save on energy usage; the consultant should also look carefully at the invoicing and the tariffs the firm is on.

It may be that the firm has automatically rolled over with their contract with their energy supply and are paying more than they need to because they simply did not switch when the opportunity arose.

Energy supplier’s invoices

In addition, some energy supplier’s invoices are not the easiest of documents to understand and an energy consultant should have the experience to see whether there are mistakes being made.

It should be appreciated that some of these mistakes could be very expensive indeed.

Also, the energy expert will be able to manage the transition between suppliers which is a seamless process and there’s no loss of energy to the firm’s premises.

The consultants will also be able to explain more about whether the organisation should look to a fixed energy supply contract or a flexible arrangement and they will bring their expertise to the table to explain which would be best for the firm concerned.

The main aim though is to speak with experts who can give effective and simple energy advice that’s not just practical but is jargon free as well; this will help empower a firm to take control of energy use and focus more on boosting profitability.

This can be done with a basic energy audit although some firms may want something more comprehensive.

Energy supplies through renewable sources

They may be able to offer more help and advice on how the firm can generate their own energy supplies through renewable sources or they can help arrange for an energy supplier that delivers energy from renewable providers to the firm instead.

The bottom line is that by engaging with an energy consultancy, the firm is making a commitment to reducing their energy bills and boosting their efforts in reducing usage.

One of the best ways of doing both of these things, reducing bills and usage, is to speak with the experts at D-Energi who have helped many firms achieve just this.

In addition to having access to the best deals and offers available for firms of all shapes and sizes, the team will also be able to offer help and advice on other issues including reducing energy usage.
