The Energy Bill Relief Scheme

We would like to take this opportunity to reassure our prospective and existing customers and clarify the following on the Energy Bill Relief Scheme (EBRS):

  • The Energy Bill Relief Scheme (EBRS) applies to fixed contracts agreed on or after 1st December 2021 as well as to deemed, variable and flexible tariffs and contracts. It will apply to energy usage from 1st October 2022 to 31st March 2023, running for an initial six-month period for all non domestic energy users..
  • All energy suppliers will apply the same discount. This discount will automatically appear on your statements. Customers do not need to apply for the scheme or contact us.
  • The BEIS department recommends all customers continue to enter into fixed price agreements as normal to shield businesses from future wholesale price increases. This way we can ensure all our customers are protected from the volatility in the current wholesale market.
  • For customers who qualify for the Energy Bill Relief Scheme we kindly ask all qualifying customers to provide us with monthly gas and / or electricity meter reads until end of the scheme. This should be done ideally on the first day of the month or no later than the 10th.This will be a great help to get your bills as accurate as possible and ensure we apply the right discount throughout the scheme period.

Why Switching Your Business Gas Supplier Will Save Money

If you would like to know more about why switching your business gas supplier will save your firm or organisation money, then this article will help.

It’s important that every firm carries out this exercise every year to ensure they do not pay more than they need to for their business gas supply but this isn’t always the case.

The government has carried out a survey and found that 40% of firms have never switched energy supplier so they will have probably been rolled over onto a contract with ‘deemed rates’ which tend to be higher.

It may be that the firm’s owners simply don’t have the time to carry out the search for cheaper gas prices or they are happy with their current supplier – even if they are being over-charged.

It doesn’t have to be this way and in just a few minutes it is possible to find a cheaper and better business energy provider.

Search for cheaper business gas rates

The search for cheaper business gas rates is easier today and while you could contact a supplier directly to negotiate a better deal, there are also online comparison sites to use.

The sites are an effective way of finding out what the current market rate is from a supplier for a firm with your gas needs.

However, this site may not be searching the whole of the market to find the best deal that meets your needs.

It’s important to understand that the switchover process will take between four and eight weeks and there’s no loss of gas supply when you undertake this process.

Hunt for a lower business gas bill

There’s no doubt that in the hunt for a lower business gas bill, that when you compare energy prices you and your business will save money. The amount being saved will depend on how much you use and where your firm is located.

This will bring peace of mind knowing that you are not being overcharged for your gas use and this process should be carried out every time your current supplier notifies of the next year’s tariff.

Also, by carrying out a comparison on an annual basis means that competition in the marketplace will be stimulated and suppliers will strive to offer lower prices as a result. This means all firms looking to switch gas providers will benefit.
