The Energy Bill Relief Scheme

We would like to take this opportunity to reassure our prospective and existing customers and clarify the following on the Energy Bill Relief Scheme (EBRS):

  • The Energy Bill Relief Scheme (EBRS) applies to fixed contracts agreed on or after 1st December 2021 as well as to deemed, variable and flexible tariffs and contracts. It will apply to energy usage from 1st October 2022 to 31st March 2023, running for an initial six-month period for all non domestic energy users..
  • All energy suppliers will apply the same discount. This discount will automatically appear on your statements. Customers do not need to apply for the scheme or contact us.
  • The BEIS department recommends all customers continue to enter into fixed price agreements as normal to shield businesses from future wholesale price increases. This way we can ensure all our customers are protected from the volatility in the current wholesale market.
  • For customers who qualify for the Energy Bill Relief Scheme we kindly ask all qualifying customers to provide us with monthly gas and / or electricity meter reads until end of the scheme. This should be done ideally on the first day of the month or no later than the 10th.This will be a great help to get your bills as accurate as possible and ensure we apply the right discount throughout the scheme period.

Why All Business Gas Suppliers UK Are Not The Same

It might be tempting for firms and organisations to believe that business gas suppliers UK are all the same with similar offers – this could be an expensive mistake to make.

While the ‘Big Six’ energy firms may offer similar deals, there are lots of new and smaller firms supplying gas and electricity in the UK with better and cheaper deals available and you simply need to find them.

But how do you search the marketplace effectively to find the bespoke deal that will meet your needs?

The easy answer is to speak with the D-Energi team who can access the entire marketplace and by using a few details deliver a great deal.

Alternatively, you could use an online comparison site for business energy to find out what the market rate is for your firm.

Compare business electricity prices

There are downsides to using these comparison sites to compare business electricity prices, as well as gas, and that is the fact they may not search all of the suppliers, so there could be better deals available that will go unnoticed.

Also, you will still need to speak with the firm that comes out top in their comparison because you must negotiate a bespoke offering.

It’s this opportunity to compare on a like-for-like basis the offers between suppliers that makes this process a tad more difficult.

As a firm looking to switch business gas and electricity suppliers, you will need to find out what prices are being charged per kilowatt hour (kWh), and also the standing charge which is the amount charged for maintaining the National Grid.

However, you will need to be aware that while a new supplier may have a low kWh charge, they may demand more for the standing charge, so you don’t make any savings.

This can be a confusing process and it should come as no surprise that a government survey has revealed that 40% of firms in the UK have never bothered switching – it’s likely that the process appears to be too involved and there may not be big savings to be enjoyed.

Cheaper electricity and business gas prices

They are making a mistake to believe that since the switchover process is straightforward and when it comes to searching for cheaper electricity and business gas prices then the market is a competitive one.

It’s also important to appreciate that the deals being offered will change on a regular basis because they will react to changes in the wholesale energy price market.
