The Energy Bill Relief Scheme

We would like to take this opportunity to reassure our prospective and existing customers and clarify the following on the Energy Bill Relief Scheme (EBRS):

  • The Energy Bill Relief Scheme (EBRS) applies to fixed contracts agreed on or after 1st December 2021 as well as to deemed, variable and flexible tariffs and contracts. It will apply to energy usage from 1st October 2022 to 31st March 2023, running for an initial six-month period for all non domestic energy users..
  • All energy suppliers will apply the same discount. This discount will automatically appear on your statements. Customers do not need to apply for the scheme or contact us.
  • The BEIS department recommends all customers continue to enter into fixed price agreements as normal to shield businesses from future wholesale price increases. This way we can ensure all our customers are protected from the volatility in the current wholesale market.
  • For customers who qualify for the Energy Bill Relief Scheme we kindly ask all qualifying customers to provide us with monthly gas and / or electricity meter reads until end of the scheme. This should be done ideally on the first day of the month or no later than the 10th.This will be a great help to get your bills as accurate as possible and ensure we apply the right discount throughout the scheme period.

Understanding Your Business Energy Comparison Exercise

by D-ENERGi

When it comes to undertaking a business energy comparison exercise, then it’s important that your firm understands why this is important.

This comparison exercise for reducing your business energy costs should be carried out every year, particularly when your current supplier tells you what your next year’s deal will be.

This notification opens a window of opportunity for your business to reduce overheads and ensure that you are not paying more than is necessary for your energy supplies.

Ultimately, there’s no reason to be paying more than you should be doing and if you have never switched, then it’s highly likely that you will be doing so.

Carry out a business electricity comparison exercise

Most firms will be able to save when they carry out a business electricity comparison exercise because this energy tends to be the most expensive for their needs and just about every firm and organisation will require electricity for their day-to-day business function.

However, when we say you need to understand the comparison exercise, we mean that you need to take steps in finding the right deal for meeting your needs.

While you could contact business energy suppliers directly, you may find that their deals are similar and the process to compare their offerings can be confusing.

One issue is that each supplier must tailor their offering to be a bespoke deal for your firm’s needs, so comparing these deals on a like-for-like basis can become complicated.

Carry out a business gas comparison exercise

This situation also extends to when firms carry out a business gas comparison exercise between suppliers and while gas bills tend to be lower, it’s still worth searching the market place to find a better offer.

In addition to contacting business gas suppliers directly, you could also use a comparison website for this purpose and also for comparing electricity providers too.

You simply need to enter a few details and the site will search a list of providers to bring you its best offer.

While this is a quick way to find out whether you are paying more than is necessary for your gas and electricity, the site itself may not be searching the entire marketplace and for that, you’ll need a firm that specialises and will do that search.

The friendly team at D-Energi can search the entire market to find a better deal for meeting your needs and they can also help explain more about why you need an effective business energy comparison exercise to be carried out.
