The Energy Bill Relief Scheme

We would like to take this opportunity to reassure our prospective and existing customers and clarify the following on the Energy Bill Relief Scheme (EBRS):

  • The Energy Bill Relief Scheme (EBRS) applies to fixed contracts agreed on or after 1st December 2021 as well as to deemed, variable and flexible tariffs and contracts. It will apply to energy usage from 1st October 2022 to 31st March 2023, running for an initial six-month period for all non domestic energy users..
  • All energy suppliers will apply the same discount. This discount will automatically appear on your statements. Customers do not need to apply for the scheme or contact us.
  • The BEIS department recommends all customers continue to enter into fixed price agreements as normal to shield businesses from future wholesale price increases. This way we can ensure all our customers are protected from the volatility in the current wholesale market.
  • For customers who qualify for the Energy Bill Relief Scheme we kindly ask all qualifying customers to provide us with monthly gas and / or electricity meter reads until end of the scheme. This should be done ideally on the first day of the month or no later than the 10th.This will be a great help to get your bills as accurate as possible and ensure we apply the right discount throughout the scheme period.

Tips to Carry Out a Business Energy Comparison Effectively

by D-ENERGi

If you are looking for tips to carry out a business energy comparison exercise effectively, then this article will help.

The best and easiest way to compare the offers between business energy providers is to speak with the experts at D-Energi who have access to the entire market and can find a deal that will best meet your needs.

Alternatively, you could speak with a potential energy provider individually, give them your details and see what they have to offer.

This process can be confusing and time-consuming because each supplier will need to offer a bespoke deal so undertaking a like-for-like analysis may become difficult.

Undertaking a business electricity comparison between providers

This also extends to undertaking a business electricity comparison between providers to find a cheaper deal because of the way providers put their bills together.

You’ll need to appreciate the unit charge for each deal and also the standing charge; the unit charge is for the actual energy used by your business, while the standing charge is to help pay for the supply via the National Grid to your premises.

There’s no doubt though that undertaking a business electricity comparison exercise will be time well spent and the optimum time to do this is when your current provider gets in touch with details of your next year’s contract rates.

Failing to search for a better deal may see your business being moved onto a ‘deemed’ rate, which tends to be pricier than those being offered to new customers. This is always best avoided.

Undertake a business gas comparison exercise

This issue of being rolled over automatically onto a more expensive tariff also extends to gas suppliers, so you should undertake a business gas comparison exercise as well.

Perhaps the easiest way to do this quickly is to use an online comparison site for gas and electricity to see what the potential offers are and whether you will save any money on your overheads.

The only issue with these sites is that they may not search the entire marketplace, so you may miss out on cheaper and better deals from other providers not listed on the comparison site.

Also, because a new supplier must offer a bespoke deal, you will still need to contact them and give them your details so they can tailor their offering to your needs.

It’s much easier to carry out a business energy comparison by simply asking the experienced team at D-Energi what is available for your firm and they can do this in a few minutes by searching the whole marketplace and take care of the switchover process as well.
