The Energy Bill Relief Scheme

We would like to take this opportunity to reassure our prospective and existing customers and clarify the following on the Energy Bill Relief Scheme (EBRS):

  • The Energy Bill Relief Scheme (EBRS) applies to fixed contracts agreed on or after 1st December 2021 as well as to deemed, variable and flexible tariffs and contracts. It will apply to energy usage from 1st October 2022 to 31st March 2023, running for an initial six-month period for all non domestic energy users..
  • All energy suppliers will apply the same discount. This discount will automatically appear on your statements. Customers do not need to apply for the scheme or contact us.
  • The BEIS department recommends all customers continue to enter into fixed price agreements as normal to shield businesses from future wholesale price increases. This way we can ensure all our customers are protected from the volatility in the current wholesale market.
  • For customers who qualify for the Energy Bill Relief Scheme we kindly ask all qualifying customers to provide us with monthly gas and / or electricity meter reads until end of the scheme. This should be done ideally on the first day of the month or no later than the 10th.This will be a great help to get your bills as accurate as possible and ensure we apply the right discount throughout the scheme period.

Our Checklist to Compare Business Electricity Tariffs

When it comes to a business owner needing to compare business electricity tariffs, it pays to be prepared beforehand.

Essentially, you’ll need to carry out some research and planning so you will enjoy a better price for your business electricity needs and also for gas.

The first step is to know how much your firm consumes every year in energy and a recent bill will give you this information.

That’s because a potential new supplier needs to offer a bespoke energy deal for your current and future needs so this information is key. They also need to know:

  • Where your firm is located
  • How many staff you employ
  • And the tariff you are currently on.

When a business needs to compare business gas tariffs

There’s a similar process for when a business needs to compare business gas tariffs and they will also need to compare the prices being offered per kilowatt-hour.

This is really important but it’s not as straightforward as you might believe because the unit price is for the actual amount of gas or electricity your firm consumes.

The aim is to achieve a lower price from the new provider to ensure you are paying less for your firm’s energy.

However, a lot of firms will not realise that the standing charge that they will pay can vary hugely – and it’s here where a deal that appears to be really cheap, at first glance, becomes very expensive because of the higher standing charge wipes out any savings.

Best time to compare business energy deals

The best time to compare business energy deals between providers is when your current supplier tells you what your rates will be for the coming year.

This opens a window of opportunity for you to search the market of potential suppliers to save on the price being quoted.

As part of this process, you really should put the team at D-Energi to the test because they are able to search the entire market on your behalf for small business electricity prices and find out whether there are really are any cheaper deals available.

They can also help with the switchover process and take care of the paperwork and remind you when this deal comes up for renewal. This will save time in the future knowing that experts who understand your business needs are searching for the best cheap deal.
