The Energy Bill Relief Scheme

D-ENERGi would like to commend the Government Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy (BEIS) and all civil servants involved working around the clock to implement the Energy Bill Relief Scheme. We appreciate BEIS efforts in working with all non-domestic suppliers over the last few weeks. We would like to take this opportunity to reassure our prospective and existing customers and clarify the following:

  • The scheme is only open to customers which have signed agreements with their suppliers from the 1st April 2022 onwards. The Energy Bill Relief Scheme comes into effect from the 1st October and a discount will be applied until 31st March 2023.
  • All energy suppliers will apply the same discount. This discount will automatically appear on your statements.
  • The BEIS department recommends all customers continue to enter into fixed price agreements as normal to shield businesses from future wholesale price increases. This way we can ensure all our customers are protected from the volatility in the current wholesale market.
  • As portrayed in some media outlets there is no price cap for businesses. The price cap is on the wholesale element price only. Please do not expect the unit rates of 21.1 p/kwh for electricity and 7.5 p/kwh for gas to appear on your bills. These rates do not include the many other non-commodity costs which make up your bill for both gas and electricity.
  • For customers who qualify for the Energy Bill Relief Scheme we kindly ask all qualifying customers to provide us with monthly gas and / or electricity meter reads until end of the scheme. This should be done ideally on the first day of the month or no later than the 10th.This will be a great help to get your bills as accurate as possible and ensure we apply the right discount throughout the scheme period.

How to Review Your Business Electricity Quote

So, you’ve spent time contacting various energy providers and now it is time to review your business electricity quote to ensure you get the best deal.

But how do you do this effectively and ensure that you source the best price possible?

Well, unless you search the entire market of business gas providers, it’s unlikely that you will have found the cheapest possible deal. You may have:

  • Used a business gas comparison site to do a quick search, but the site usually restricts their search to a panel of select suppliers
  • Or, you may have contacted providers individually but it’s unlikely you will have contacted every single one of them supplying gas to UK businesses.

Searching for the cheapest business energy quote

There’s an easy way to get around this issue when searching for the cheapest business energy quote, and that is to speak with the D-Energi experts.

Unlike a business energy comparison website, the team can search the entire market to source the cheapest supplier and then explain the contract and take care of the paperwork for a seamless transition process.

It’s also worth highlighting that when using a comparison platform, you will still need to negotiate directly with the recommended supplier because they need to offer you a bespoke quote.

That means the platform is not as quick as you had hoped or as effective because they will only contact a select number of providers.

The best time to begin this process is when your current energy provider tells you of what your next year’s rates will be and this should then nudge you into action to find a cheaper deal. Failing to act may see you being moved across to dearer rates automatically.

Cheap business gas quote

This situation also extends to those firms looking for a cheap business gas quote when they need to renew.

And while most firms and organisations are spending less on their gas overheads, it’s still worth the time searching for a cheaper provider because:

  • You will ensure that you are not overpaying for your business gas needs and boosting profitability as a result
  • You will also be helping to stimulate competition within the UK’s business gas supply market by simply searching for a new deal.

While there will undoubtedly be business owners who think this is a time-consuming undertaking to find a new business gas and electricity provider, it really is not.

And that’s the case when you use the experts at D-Energi who can help you review your business electricity quote, and for gas, to ensure it’s as good as it can possibly be.
