The Energy Bill Relief Scheme

We would like to take this opportunity to reassure our prospective and existing customers and clarify the following on the Energy Bill Relief Scheme (EBRS):

  • The Energy Bill Relief Scheme (EBRS) applies to fixed contracts agreed on or after 1st December 2021 as well as to deemed, variable and flexible tariffs and contracts. It will apply to energy usage from 1st October 2022 to 31st March 2023, running for an initial six-month period for all non domestic energy users..
  • All energy suppliers will apply the same discount. This discount will automatically appear on your statements. Customers do not need to apply for the scheme or contact us.
  • The BEIS department recommends all customers continue to enter into fixed price agreements as normal to shield businesses from future wholesale price increases. This way we can ensure all our customers are protected from the volatility in the current wholesale market.
  • For customers who qualify for the Energy Bill Relief Scheme we kindly ask all qualifying customers to provide us with monthly gas and / or electricity meter reads until end of the scheme. This should be done ideally on the first day of the month or no later than the 10th.This will be a great help to get your bills as accurate as possible and ensure we apply the right discount throughout the scheme period.

How Do I Know When to Switch Business Energy Supplier?

When should I switch my business energy supplier?

There isn’t a specific time, unfortunately, when it is best to switch business energy supplier. Each business is individual and has different requirements, different contract dates, different costs, and different business energy meters. When you want to compare energy prices, keep in mind that the switching window for each business will be different, and also dependent on a wide variety of factors.

Why is it important to know your business energy prices per kWh?

If you are not well versed in your business energy contract and don’t know your business energy prices per kWh, then it can end up costing you dearly. If you don’t know the right time to switch for example, then you may end up rolling over to a much more expensive contract – that tends to be 80% pricier than normal contracts. It may surprise you to learn that as many as 10% of UK businesses are locked into these contracts and paying more than they should.

Why do I need to switch my business energy supplier?

There seems to be a widely held opinion that energy suppliers will offer you a bonus for not switching, and this is generally not the case. Any offer you get for contract renewals will not factor in existing ties with your supplier, so it is definitely worth shopping around.

Individual business energy suppliers will offer individual options, so you need to consider them all carefully to work out which is the most relevant to you and your business. The best business supplier for you is the one that will take care of all of your business energy needs and provide you with a reliable service.

Supplier offers change on a regular basis as the market is always fluctuating, so it is worth comparing the market on a regular basis to see the quotes available to you at that time. This is something that the team at D-ENERGi can definitely help with.

When is the best time to switch business energy supplier?

There is usually a short window of time when it is best for UK businesses to take advantage of a cheaper energy deal – and this is usually just before their current contract expires.

To find out if you qualify for a cheaper business energy contract, make sure you know your business electricity rates per kWh and then get in touch with D-ENERGi.
